South african heritage day

On the 18 september, we had a south african heritage day because our teacher is south african so it was a surprise for her.

We ate so much south african food that included: caramel peppermint tart's, chocolate biscuits and jerkey. there are also some weird food like: smiley's which is sheep head, walkie talkies which is chicken legs and bunny chow which is bread stuffed with mince.

After that we made rock art. We got a canvas, soaked it with a teabag. Then we painted rock art on it.

Lastly, we watched zulu dancing. It is when girl's and boy's dance topless!

St John Workshop

On the 22.8.2019, we had a St John school guide to show us how to bandage up and heal wounds. The first thing we had to do is we had to take care of a knocked out friend or someone to work with. First we had to learn the D.R.S.A.B.C.D, (Danger, Response, Send help, Airway, Breath, CPR, Debi). One person had to be the knocked out person, and the other one only had to do the D.R.S.A and B. Next we had to bandage a cut, we had to put an adresser pad on the cut and then wrap it in a bandage. Sadly she had to go, so the last activity was she named out all the things in a first aid kit and then she covered it up. We had to name them all on a piece of paper. We got 14/17 things in the first aid kit.

Tessellations

WALA: how tessellations work and how they look to get ideas about how to design our own.
there are four requirements to make a tessellation: 1. no overlapping, 2. no gapes, 3. shapes, 4. pattern.
the person who connected maths and art with tessellations is M. C. Escher, he was born in 17 June 1898, and died 27 March 1972.

coordinates and map work

We have been learning coordinates and working with maps and compasses to go in the wild.
We are planning to go to camp and kayaking. We have to use maps, coordinates, and compasses to find out where we are going. To learn we drew our own maps and coordinates, floorplans.
My favourite activity was the chocolate.
i think i am good at reading maps and coordinates
